Breeds and what's For Sale

Our Pure Bred stock Currently includes:

Standards:

* White Rock- These are a good Old Fashioned Farm bird. They are dual purpose, great for large brown eggs, reliable layers right through the winter. They are good meat birds as well, and don't tend to loose their body weight after laying for a a year or two, like so many breeds do.

*Buff Orpington- These are a beautiful and docile heritage breed. They are large and Golden in Color.

* New Hampshire- These are an old Red Breed, I have 2 hens and a Roo. I plan to get rid of the Roo, and keep the hens for layers. Too Many Roos!

Bantams:

*d'Uccle- Mille Fleur and Porcelain in color, these are sweet, gentle and beautiful. This is a Belgian banty, and they are wonderful.

*Old English Games Bantys- These birds are sweet, trainable and so gentle. These are small birds, but they are aggressive enough to hold their own with the other birds. Very enjoyable little chickens.

Our Eggs Layers Mish-Mash: We have a mix of fun breeds that make up our laying flock. Barred Rocks, Polish, Spangled Hamburg, Egyptian Fayumis, New Hampshire, Delaware, Ameraucana, White Leghorn, and few more. Slowly certain birds will become available at 2-3 years old for family flocks. We will be working toward replacing sold birds with the Farmstead, dual-purpose birds, White Rock, and Buff Orpington. I think I will try to keep a couple Leghorns and Ameraucans around, the white and Blue eggs are different from the brown.

White Crested Black Polish Hen...her name is Dolores.

Old English Game Bantam

Flash sadly drown, this fall. So we will looking for a nice Spangled Rooster. Unfortunately, I doubt we will come close to his personality, in a new Roo. he is missed.

Flash, the 'Spangled' Rooster

A young Red Pyle Rooster

A young Silver Duckwing Rooster

These birds are perfect for a 4-H project!

This was Flash and his Hens, Sweety Pie, and Mischief. Mischief is the only remaining bird of this trio, and we are looking for a new mate for her.

White Rocks

This is Loughie and his harem of White Rocks.

I have no idea what he is, a mix including Black Giant. I am guessing but he is just now starting to crow, at 25 weeks, and HUGE! He is mellow, sweet, and takes good care of his girls. These girls are great eggers and I will be adding 3 Barred Rocks, 2 White Leghorns, and a stray or 2 to this group. I think Loughie can be the 'man' for a while yet in this arrangement.

Buff Orpington's

This is Peaches

In Loving Memory of 'Sweety Pie'.

10-5-06

She was sadly killed today by our border Collie Pup. Rowan is very sad. He said he loved her, more than Dubh the cat or Ivy the goat. She will be missed. Amazing what an impact a sweet little hen can make.

This was Rowan with his favorite chicken, Sweety Pie. She made sweet sounds to him, and was fully trained. No Chicken could possibly be so loved as this little hen. She got packed around like a doll, and would lie on Rowans lap, on her back and he would pet her head. Here, he was showing me how well she would lie still for him. This was true love for sure. We miss her!

We do sell the occasional Laying Hen, and in the spring if there are chicks, those are for sale too. We are not trying to achieve Purebred anything. All the birds bunk together. They are all laying breeds. I do donate eggs to local schools, I do not Ship eggs! If you have a broody hen you want to give fertile eggs to, I am happy to help you out, as long as you pick them up in person. Thanks for your interest.
